The Knecht-Four Point Plan to Cut Living Costs
As we’re all experiencing every day, living costs are out of control. Whether it’s gas prices, groceries, childcare, or taxes, hardworking Minnesotans are getting pinched far, far too often.
Recently, I spoke to a woman who told me her friends were “cutting back” on meat because they couldn’t afford it. Simply put, Minnesotans shouldn’t be forced to choose between paying the bills or feeding their kids a hamburger.
The current situation reminds me of the 2007-2008 financial crisis when the housing industry crashed. My dad has a small concrete foundation company and, at the time of the recession, everyone I knew worked in the housing industry. Seemingly overnight, the world turned upside down when housing crash impacted my family in a very, very real way (and also sparked my interest in politics and policymaking).
As a result, stories about families struggling to make ends meet during times of economic turmoil hit home for me. And, now that I’m running for office, I will do everything I can to help hardworking individuals and families make ends meet. I am tired of elected officials not doing their jobs while families suffer.
I’m running to chart a new path, away from the polarization and partisanship plaguing political discourse today. I’m running to be a hardworking, independent voice for reasonable policy solutions that help Minnesotans flourish. That starts with my Knecht-Four Point Plan to Cut Living Costs:
Reduce Minnesota’s Tax Burden – particularly for retirees and working families.
Combat the Labor Shortage – less workers means less productivity, higher prices, and more headaches.
Relieve the Supply Chain Woes – do what we can to help businesses and individuals get what they need.
Attack Wasteful Government Spending – the basic definition of inflation is too much money chasing too few goods and services. We shouldn’t fuel the flames of inflation by increasing wasteful government spending, especially when we have a shortage of goods and workers.
I will have more on each topic in the Knecht-Four Point Plan to Cut Living Costs in the days ahead. Until then, I want you to know that I will do everything I can to cut living costs and help you live a better life.
